One of the most common questions we are asked here at Empire Gutters is, “How do I know when it’s time to replace my rain gutters?” With regular cleaning and maintenance, your gutters should last for many years, but there are some signals you should watch for that will indicate it’s time to replace your gutters.

Three Signals It's Time to Replace Your Rain Gutters

  1. You Can See Gaps, Cracks, or Sags in Your Gutters.  Some of the first things you’ll see in gutters that need to be repaired or replaced are gapping, cracking, or sagging. If you notice any of these issues with your gutters, then it may mean you need to replace the affected sections of the gutter or replace them entirely, depending on the extent of the damage.
  2. There are Clogs or Standing Water in Your Gutters. Clogs resulting in standing water are another signal that your gutters need attention. Water collecting and pooling in your rain gutters can lead to erosion and rust, compromising the integrity of the gutter materials to the point that they’ll need to be replaced to properly divert water away from your roof.
  3. There are Signs of Water Damage to Your Roof or Façade. Rust, peeling paint, or mold near your roofline and gutters can be early signs of water damage. Replacing your rain gutters can help mitigate water damage before it compromises your roof or foundation.

At Empire Gutters, we are ready to help if you need to repair or replace your rain gutters. Call us today!
